Happy Anniversary to us!

Today marks 15 years of our marriage. As time ticks by and life goes on, it is milestones like these that make one take a step back and look from the outside. So what do I see? I see us and our bond grow ever so stronger with each passing year and appreciate the different phases of our partnership. Starting from us being so young when we got married, being blessed with Aayaan in 2010 after which we were never the same again and then moving to the US in 2015 trying to start a new life so far away from our beloved family. When Aayra came into our lives in 2018, we were to again fundamentally change forever... I see us standing by each other during our toughest times and sharing joy with our friends and family during the brightest of times... Yes there have been rare occasions that we have not agreed with each other, have argued and even fought, thank you for bearing with my eccentricities at times and taking the tough stand to make me see reason.  Thanks so much Jaan for being who yo...

Mission Mangal!

15th August, a very special day! My nation's independence, my son's birthday and now Mission Mangal! What a movie! The beauty was how it inspires, the space mission was just a backdrop to convey a few important lessons: 1. The power of a mission: It is so true that once you commit to a mission, nothing can stop you. Its only when we are not fully bought into something that we find excuses for everything and in fact encourage obstacles to come our way. Tying one self to a mission is a must in order to achieve something. 2. Rejuvenation: We tend to forget or lose sight of our passion in the midst of life and routine and tend to make everything work within a defined formula. We let go of the enthusiasm and creativity and the love of doing what was our passion at one point. The movie shows a good technique of rejuvenating one self - Remember the first time you were smitten by your passion of doing something, it will give you a new energy to try becoming that again! 3....

Getting better...igniting the catalyst!

Been reading lately, got hold of 2 really interesting books. Both by the same author - Chandramouli Venkatesan. The first one is "The Catalyst" - this talks about how to add value to everything we do by consciously identifying a "catalyst". The idea is not to take for granted that spending time and effort over any activity or task will actually help us "grow". It is a common misnomer that if we put in "time" and "effort" at anything, we would automatically "grow". However, it was insightful to read that it is not always the case, we need to identify a "catalyst" that will make us be deliberate in our intent to make sure that we are adding value to the activity / task and ourselves. The second one which I am still in the process of reading is "Get Better at getting better". Now, this is a very interesting take on how we can develop a model (aptly called the GBM - Get Better Model by the author) t...

My First Blog!

Its been quite a while and I am finally here! Like the old saying goes "Better late than never!" Okay, so the first blog is to set the agenda and theme for researching a particular topic and post stuff about my findings which might be useful for others and serve as a reference for myself. Few topics that I am interested in and would like to explore them in a lot more detail: Omni-channel Architecture Why is this needed? - Use cases Business Case - can we quantify benefits as a $ amount ? Capabilities - functional feature set Architecture Views Conceptual Logical Technology Indicative Roadmap Indicative Costs & Timeline Products & Platforms shaping modern application development How platforms that provide different levels of "as a service" are evolving and how this is changing the fundamentals of how application development is done Examples are cloud platforms like Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) This is...
